Interior layout

The interior has an open plan with lots of headroom making for a comfortable liveaboard. The entire boat has recently undergone an interior remodel, been totally rewired, new LED lighting installed, new on-demand water heaters, batteries, new overhead, some new cabinetry, trim, and all new upholstery custom made by Skookum Canvasworks of Sitka.

At the bottom of the companionway the nav station is on the port side, with a double bunk and hanging locker aft.

Moving forward is the main saloon with port and starboard settees, each of which make comfortable bunks, cabinetry on the port side, to starboard is a Dickinson Newport heater, a sea berth outboard and above the setee. Electronics include a 40” Sony Bravia LCD TV, CD/DVD player, VHS player, and Bose stereo system (all of which can be secured for sea).

Forward of the port setee is a chain locker, and large storage lockers. Opposite is the head. The head is the right size and height for comfort in a seaway. The porcelain bowl is a macerator type which pumps into a holding tank. The holding tank has a macerator pump which is valved for offshore discharge or in the harbor pump out. There is a counter with stainless sink, a new hand-held shower wand designed to conserve water, and on-demand water heater. The new opening ocean hatch allows for good ventilation.

The forward stateroom includes an extra large double V-berth with mattresses topped with 2” memory foam inseamed with an additional top 2” memory form for a total of 7” thickness. Well ventilated clothes bins are outboard to port and starboard. There is a hanging locker, drawers and cabinets to port, and drawers to starboard. There is a sail bin underneath and the large opening hatch for moving sails to the foredeck and also provides ventilation.

Galley

Opposite on the starboard side is the galley with double stainless sink, on-demand water heater, propane stove with oven, under-counter refrigerator and ample storage.

Electronic Equipment

All standing rigging is oversized to withstand the harshest sailing conditions. EROS is well balanced, points close to the wind and sails very well. She can turn 360 degrees in her own length and a Perkins 4-107 delivers 48 horsepower at 2500 rpm with a miserly fuel consumption of one gallon per hour at 6.5 knots. She has 6 sails including a ProFurl roller-furling jib.

Electronics include Furuno radar, Furuno depth-sounder/fish finder, Furuno WAAS GPS (new), and a backup Magellan GPS. There is an Gudcraft 400 watt wind turbine and an Icom VHF stationary radio with loud hailer and foghorn.Paper navigational charts cover all of SE Alaska, the Inside passage through British Columbia, offshore Washington, Oregon, and more.

Electrical System

The Maxwell electric windlass with remote control makes anchoring easy and secure with 2 bow anchors (CQR and Bruce on 300‘ of chain with an additional rode of chain and rope), and a Fortress 37 as a stern anchor on chain and rope.

Other Equipment

Deck and safety equipment includes life jackets (type I, II and III for 6 people), Lifesling and horseshoe buoy, and self-tailing winch for head sail (uninstalled) snatch blocks for rigging sails, 2 clip-on harnesses and jack lines.

Dingy is a Zodiac 10.5 foot inflatable with hard floor, oars, and a 9.5 hp Evinrude outboard.

Tankage includes 85 gallons fuel in 2 inboard tanks, and one 50 gallon fuel located in the engine room. There are 2 -35 gallon water tanks.
