Selling a Bargain! Koopmans Steel Cutter 42 ft
Strong and sturdy steel Koopmans cruising yacht for sale in Trinidad or Tobago. British SSR registered and South African SAMSA listed.
Kick Start the Adventure. Just fly in, fuel up at $TT 1.50 a litre for diesel, top up the water tanks, add some grub, a couple of slabs of beer and island hop from Tobago to Antigua, exploring great free anchorages, secluded bays or excellent night life a dink ride away.
This is a really great Cruising Opportunity for a couple, small family or friends to continue budget sailing in the Caribbean for a year or three, before going through Panama and doing the milk run across the Pacific.. I have had 3 years of wonderful adventure cruising from Cape Town, via Brazil, French Guyana, Suriname and up into the Caribbean, before happily sailing singlehanded for some months – now it’s time to sell my cruising home and move back on land for a few years. The boat sleep 3 or 5. The price is a giveaway, because it’s time to swallow the anchor and I don’t want to sail back to Cape Town against the prevailing wind and current, only to sell the boat back home for a few thousand dollars more. Your return on the low investment of US$48 000 is virtually guaranteed when you sell the boat in Australia in 3 or 5 years’ time (of course, the 8 tons of lead in the keel also adds a bit to the resale value).
The yacht has an Echopilot forward sonar, all robust Furuno normal sonar, wind instruments, radar, gps, a Garmin chart plotter, (many kg’s of worldwide paper charts, too), music system, AIS radio receiver, epirb. Then 4 anchors,130m of 10 mm chain and an extra 500 m of nylon rode, bouys + lots of spare cordage, electric windlass, solar panels, wind generator, 1 x Trojan T105 battery bank, 2 Vetus battery banks, a powerful and super reliable Yanmar model 4LH-HTE main engine to take on any current or seas, with 1000 litre diesel capacity ( motoring range +- 400nm), as well as 475 litres of freshwater capacity. There is a SMEV gas oven, spare gas, as well as a stainless steel barbeque and + - 20 kgs of charcoal on board.
The cutter rig is bulletproof and the cruising main is 3 years old, the 120 genoa is 4 years old. A new stackpack is included, so stowing the main sail with the fitted lazyjacks is simple. There is a new stormjib plus a spare genoa in very good condition. There is also a parachute sea anchor, survival suit, 4 man liferaft, many lifejacketss, a 406 Epirb. There is an aft dive platform with a freshwater deck shower to rinse off after a swim.
LOTS of extras stay with the boat, such as dive gear, fishing gear, dinghy, outboard, surfboard and other gear ( whatever personal gear I can’t carry in my plane luggage, stays onboard). This means tools, spares, filters, fuel and water cans, fenders, a welding machine, drills, etc, etc, etc.
I have to give my house tenants one month’s notice and find a home for the ship’s cat, so the time is now and you won’t find another strong, well equipped budget cruising keel boat at this price.
