According to a boat review of the 2001 Champion Tunnel-Champ 22, this vessel may run in 8 of water at speeds in excess of 50 mph with its 225 HP outboard engine. In fact, the current owner can attest to the boat's performance ability in both shallow and deeper waterways.

In addition to the 6 hydraulic jack plates, the vessel's rear tunnel design allows the engine to be mounted higher on the transom for better shallow-water performance. The tunnel also prevents the transom from blocking water flow to the propeller. With its deep-V hull design, this Tunnel Champ will provide superior performance on days when water conditions are rough or calm.

Equipped with a Lowrance HDS 7 GPS-fishfinder, the digital readout displays fuel gallons used, gallons per hour usage, battery voltage, engine RPMs, and trim settings. An optional speed sensor may be connected as well.
