Rare Powerquest 380 Avenger with 575 SCI blown motors rebuilt to 725HP, upgraded outdrives!
If you are in the market for a beautifully upgraded and super fast high performance boat, you can't go wrong with this creampuff Powerquest Avenger 380 in Georgia.
Powerquest started building the 380 Avenger in 1998 and modified the hulls every year until 2001 when they felt they had the steps and hull optimized for speed and a comfortable ride. They built only six 380 Avengers with the 575 SCI blown motors - and this boat built in 2001 was one of them.
According to the seller: In 2008, the owner at that time sent the boat to Innovation Marine to have the motors and outdrives rebuilt. Innovation Marine replaced the drives with Mercury racing XR uppers with drive showers and IMCO lowers with low water pick-ups. The Weiand superchargers were also rebuilt. After the rebuild the engines dyno'd at 723 (port) and 727 HP (Stbd) at 5500 RPMs and at 3750 rpm they had 715 ft-lbs of torque. They were totally gone through, balanced, and blueprinted with 8.2-to-1 ceramic coated JE Pistons, hydraulic Crane roller cams and rockers, high volume oil pumps, new bearings, new pulleys, and custom MAP tuning. The headers were pressure tested. The boat has upgraded 5-blade 32 Pitch Mercury Max props with prop locks.
The boat was put in storage immediately after being retrieved from Innovation Marine and stayed there for the next 10 years. It changed hands briefly before coming into the possession of the current seller, who has only put about 50 hours on the motors since purchasing it.
There are twin Livorsi sea strainers and the boat has an integrated freshwater flush system which
makes flushing the engines or running them on a hose a breeze. Trim cables were replaced in 2008 along with
solenoids.
The stereo is top notch - 3 subs under the rear seat, eight mid-range 6 speakers and eight
tweeters, all JL Audio, driven by a n 1800-watt JL Audio sub amp and a Rockford Fosgate Punch PM 600x4 main amp and a circulation fan in the stereo cabinet to keep the amps cool. Dressing it all up at night, the boat has blue underwater lights in the transom and blue LEDs under the motor hatch. There are also white lights in the engine compartment and in the cockpit.
A new fully automatic battery charger and three new marine batteries were installed in 2020. The speedometer is GPS driven.
The helm features twin McLeod electric bolster seats. The deck was redone in 2021 with Sea Deck including the Powerquest logo on the swim platform. The cockpit features full carpeting.
In the cabin is a TV for the V-Birth with a DVD Player - the seller has never used the DVD player as the TV appears to be non-functioning. There is a stereo Bluetooth adaptor and the stereo has a CD player and GPS. There is a drop down screen in the companionway to repeat that GPS screen, but the seller has never needed it on the lake and recently discovered it is inoperable. There is also a TV in the V-berth, operability unknown. The head features a Vacu-flush toilet which the seller has never used. A 110/12 volt fridge and 110 volt microwave occupy the galley which the seller has recently tested and do operate normally.
Interior upholstery is all excellent. No rips or tears. There is one tear in the sun pad which the seller states he will have repaired before purchase. No scrapes or
gouges in the fiberglass hull. Has a full bow-to-stern cover as well as a snap-on cockpit cover. Stored on a lift under cover. Includes a bimini top that stores in the engine compartment and full Isinglass in excellent condition. A stowable table with pedestal for the settee area is included.
The aluminum trailer is the original one from Powerquest with all new components installed recently. All 6 brake calipers, rotors, brake lines, and wheel bearings were replaced in October 2021 along with new bunk carpeting and hitch coupler.
You're buying this boat to go fast, so let's talk about speed. With over 1000 lbs of guys aboard and half a load of fuel the seller has seen speeds of 92 MPH on the
GPS. The previous owner claimed a top speed of 105 mph with 1/4 tank of fuel and just himself
aboard. When Performance Boat magazine
reviewed the Powerquest Avenger 380 they got 82 MPH with the stock 550 hp engines, 4-bladed props
and standard outdrives. This boat's IMCO lower units reduce the X-Factor and drag and there are 350 more horses on tap than when Performance Boat tested it. The seller believes it to be the fastest Avenger 380 in the world. When polling the Powerquest forum on Facebook, no one with a 380 posted a faster speed than 92. At 3500 RPMs the boat does 55 mph and crushes any waves.
The base gelcoat of the boat is all white with no graphics, which was just too boring for the seller. He and his wife designed the wrap and the wrap company took a video of the boat in the water with a drone to ensure the lines of the wrap were parallel with the water when the boat was at rest. The seller has photos of the boat showing it before the wrap to prove that he was not covering up defects. Of note, the registration numbers are not part of the base wrap - they were added on top so they can be replaced. The seller has more wrap material to give to the new owner so letters can be made that match the graphics on the boat.
