The Ultimate Guide to Boating in Florida: Unleashing the Best of Florida's Aquatic Adventures

When it comes to boating, few places can compare to the breathtaking beauty and many opportunities that Florida has to offer. With its miles of coastline, countless lakes, and meandering rivers, the Sunshine State truly is a boater's paradise. It's no wonder that Florida has more boats than any other state in the US with over 1,000,000 boats as of 2022. Whether you're a seasoned sailor or a novice...(click to read more)

Interior layout

From a roomy cockpit with large storage lockers, you step down into 6'4" standup headroom with a galley on starboard, quarter-berth on port, dinette with table makes into a double bed and will seat about four adults. Adjacent to small galley is a settee which can seat about three adults. There is storage under seats on both sides. Paneling gives a nice cabin feeling and floors are in good shape. Sliding door divides head and closet. Closet has a door which doubles as a privacy door to the Vberth. Head has been modified to accommodate a bio-toilet (which we took with us to the next boat). I highly recommend them, but a porta potty would work well also. There is a laundry hatch accessible from the head which will easily store five to seven loads of laundry. We went over a month on one trip, no problem. V-berth has an 8" memory foam mattress on a queen sized bed with lots of storage underneath. We keep sails in one of those compartments now. Front access door under bed to storage. Anchor locker at bow. 12V outlets throughout and all LED lights. 110 also.

Galley

Small sink with both hand and foot pump which works great for water conservation on long trips. Small dish keeper on countertop, lift-able countertop can hold the two burner alcohol stove. We never used it. It needs rebuilding. Two 110 outlets on each end of galley. Large storage under galley. Older Ice box with refrigeration unit accessible from either galley or outside cockpit. We never checked to see if it works. We used another method for refrigeration, but it made a great place to keep ice on the Great Loop trip. We turned it into a giant icebox.

Electronic Equipment

Garmin GPS, VHF radio

Electrical System

12V and 110V new circuit breaker boxes, all new wiring both 12V and 110V, solar controller, two 100W solar panels mounted over stern, many 12V receptacles, two 6V batteries in great shape.

Other Equipment

Two bilge pumps-one manual and one electric. Bottom has been scraped and painted with Trinidad copper paint. It is in great shape. 120% Genoa, storm jib, and main sail, whisker pole, bimini, 35lb plow anchor, 24' of 5/16" chain and 150' of 5/8" three strand nylon rope, 16lb Danforth anchor; 9.9 Honda 4 stroke uses half gallon gas per hour at 5 knots. Runs great. Has both wheel steering and tiller. Four life jackets, life sling, lots of fenders, bosun's chair, 9' Avon Red Crest inflatable dinghy with 2 oars.

Remarks

This has been a beautiful sailboat home for three years but we have moved onto boat number two. The Grampian has been a lot of fun and we have taken her one third of the Great Loop on the intercontinental waterway, and have also gone across the middle of the state of Florida through the canals on another trip. Solar electricity kept our refrigerator, lights, laptop, and phones going, and we took solar showers along the way, keeping it simple and cheap. We are offering a 9' inflatable dinghy and two oars with this deal, and now there is no reason why you cannot jump aboard and putt away to your next adventure!
