Remarks

Congratulations! You are now looking at a listing for a Fisher 46, perhaps the finest motorsailer of her class in the world. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to do some basic research on these small ships. You will quickly learn how respected and highly regarded they are in the world-wide sailing community.

M/S BARNACLE, is hull #007 of the original twelve Fisher 46’s built by Berthron Boat Co. Ltd. It is my belief that only nine of these vessels survive. (No, they didn’t sink – I think two burned and one fell derelict.) Splashed in 1977, “Barnacle” has had three owners. We have owned the boat for the past 15 years and have recently moved ashore on the Rio Dulce in Guatemala after living aboard for 11 years during which time we voyaged her as far south as Colombia.

“Barnacle” is for sale in “as is” condition in Guatemala. Depending on the needs and expectations of potential buyers “Barnacle” is in marginal “sail away” condition and could be enjoyed in the Bay Islands of Honduras, Belize, and Mexico’s Riviera Maya with minimal refurbishment.

If an around-the-world’s great capes voyage is the goal, then an expenditure including the purchase of new sails and rigging would be prudent but the boat is sound and whatever additional “goodies” added would be new. “Barnacle” will welcome as much attention to her “cosmetics” as the new owner is willing to give her.

Research Rio Dulce, Guatemala, which is “Barnacle’s” location, and you will discover that inexpensive quality boat work of all kinds is available and that the location is considered to be hurricane safe.

Almost everything on “Barnacle” is old and she has her original equipment. There is a five-year-old SSB radio and auto-helm; the RIB is in pretty good shape but has a slow leak; the Yamaha 15 hp 4-stroke runs good; 8k Northern Lights gen-set works: electric winch works; Ray Marine C80 chart plotter works, radar doesn’t.

A large v-berth, two closets plus vanity with drawer and shelves, and private wet-head comprise “Barnacle’s” aft cabin. A second wet-head is accessed from the saloon. There are two forward cabins. The port cabin has upper and lower “bunks” and a vanity/closet. The starboard cabin houses separate washer and dryer and a small Kubota diesel which turns a belt-driven alternator. There is an upper bunk and access to the bow chain locker.

Anyway, “Barnacle” is seriously for sale. If you are a serious buyer send me an email and introduce yourself. I will be happy to honestly discuss “Barnacle’s” condition with you but I am not going to “nit-pick” and fault the boat in endless emails. Convince me you are a serious buyer who is familiar with the outstanding capabilities of Fisher boats and I will do my best to help you find a way to become the proud new owner of a classic and extremely capable motorsailer, the Fisher 46.

Or…just transfer US $150,000 to my account and we won’t have to discuss anything but your taking delivery!
