Welcome aboard this 1987 Custom Boston Whaler masterpiece by Bill Hopper of Santa Ynez, widely known for his expertise with retrofitting Boston Whalers.

The meticulous seller and Bill took a 22' Boston Whaler Temptation 2200 (1987) and transformed it over 2 years into the fishing vessel that you see before you. The Temptation was a lesser-known model that comes with the Whaler Drive extended transom system by Boston Whaler, and the hull is the same hull as the Outrage models of the same era.

No expense was spared. They stripped the boat all the way back to the hull and rebuilt the pilothouse with a cuddy cabin, raised the deck in the aft of the vessel, and raised and customized the gunnels and transom and the stern.

Bill meticulously double laminated and glassed each panel of marine ply (pre-assembly) and then glassed the whole buildout into one integral structure. With the vision of a pilothouse for this Whaler, they incorporated design elements of newer Whaler Pilothouses (like the Challenger) as well as Radon and Anderson design elements and together turned ideas into reality.

The Pilothouse is 6 8 tall on the inside trailing edge and 3 full-size anglers can stand shoulder to shoulder inside the house at the helm. The cabin had beautiful teak woodwork (original) and we raised the cabin ceiling so that you can sit in the cabin with headroom or sleep 2 adults comfortably. The raised deck in the aft makes it a full walk-around fishing vessel and the deck was extended past the edge of the bow (similar to the bow of a Radon), for more space & so the standoffs for the railings land outside the edge of the hull.

The stern has modified gunnels (thickened and raised them) and added dry hatches to the gunnels and storage hatches to the transom (16 wide transom) while also adding a fold-up bench seat across the whole transom for comfort while pleasure cruising.

The original helm was modified to fit in the new pilothouse with a custom dash across the opening of the cutty. All the railings and rocket launchers were designed and custom-built (stainless steel) to the design we came up with. The rub rail (special order from Boston Whaler) is a beefed-up version meant for a bigger Guardian.

Powered with a Honda BF250 still under warranty for 3 more years.
